Image: Achilles Sarcophagus made in an Attic workshop of an unknown maker. On the front and two short ends of the sarcophagus are scenes depicting events of Achilles' life. On the front of the sarcophagus Achilles steps into a chariot as he prepares to drag the lifeless body of Hector around the walls of Troy under he gaze of many other figures. On the back of the sarcophagus carved in low relief is a scene of the Greeks fighting the Centaurs. A scene on one of the short ends of the sarcophagus shows Achilles among the daughters of King Lycomedes of Skyros, while on the other short end Achilles is preparing for battle in the presence of Odysseus. The lid of the sarcophagus depicts a husband and wife with faces that remained uncarved.
